Food and Faith at Williams, October 18 at 7pm

On October 18th, the Williams College Chaplain’s Office and the Sustainable Food & Agriculture Program will hold an interfaith event open to the general public.

Our guests include Rabbi Natan Margalit, who runs Organic Torah, Dawood Yasin, the Muslim Chaplain at Dartmouth College, and Patrick Bensen, an organic farmer and Muslim from Granby, MA. The goal of this event is to hear from our guests on how Islam and Judaism can be understood to reflect food sustainability principles. We will then hold a discussion on this theme. Jewish Chaplain Bob Scherr and Muslim Chaplain Bilal Ansari will also participate.

The Jewish Association and the Muslim Student Association will form the primary audience. Members of Congregation Beth Israel are enthusiastically invited to attend. Presentations and discussion will begin at 7:00 p.m., and will conclude by about 8:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Jewish Religious Center (24 Stetson Court, Williamstown, MA 01267).
