Foundation within Endurance
Tonight (Thursday night) at sundown, we begin the day of foundation and connection within the week of endurance.
What are your foundations? To what are you connected in your life? How can these connections, and these foundations, help you to endure?
Take a moment to adjust your posture in your chair. Plant your feet firmly on the ground; let your spine rise up, following its natural curvature but lifting your head toward the heavens.
Imagine that you can feel blessings
flowing down from God on high, like a tree soaking up sunlight.
Imagine that you can feel blessings rising
up from God deep within, like a tree drawing moisture from the earth.
Balance your foundation, and know that you can endure.
This is the twenty-seventh step toward Sinai, toward Shavuot, toward revelation.
As I count the Omer, let my counting create a tikkun, a healing, between transcendence and immanence, God far above and God deep within.
Baruch atah, Adonai, eloheinu ruach ha’olam, asher kidshanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al sfirat ha-omer.
Blessed are You, Adonai our God, breath of life, who makes us holy with mitzvot and gives us this opportunity to count the Omer.
Today is twenty-seven days, which are three weeks and six days, of the Omer!
