Foundation within Boundaried Strength
Today is the day of yesod she’b’gevurah, foundation within discipline / strength / boundaries.
In what are your disciplines founded? Where are the roots of your practices — do your disciplines (exercise, yoga, writing, prayer, whatever they may be) draw on deep roots?
Do you feel rooted in your Judaism? Do you feel rooted in this community? How do mitzvot connect you with a foundation?
This is the thirteenth step toward Shavuot, toward revelation, toward Sinai.
As I count the Omer, let my counting create a tikkun, a healing, between transcendence and immanence, God far above and God deep within.
Baruch atah, Adonai, eloheinu ruach ha’olam, asher kidshanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al sfirat ha-omer.
Blessed are You, Adonai our God, breath of life, who makes us holy with mitzvot and gives us this opportunity to count the Omer.
Today is thirteen days, which are one week and six days, of the Omer!
