Harmony within Lovingkindness
The third day of the Omer is the day of tiferet she’b’chesed, harmony within lovingkindness.
Today is the third note in the chord, the one which brings harmony to the two notes which preceded it. Think about a harmonious balance of limitless love and a good channel to hold that love — like fervent rushing waters, contained safely within flood control tunnels.
How can you make your lovingkindness harmonious, in action and in your heart? This is the third step toward Shavuot, toward revelation, toward Sinai.
As I count the Omer, let my counting create a tikkun, a healing, between transcendence and immanence, God far above and God deep within.
Baruch atah, Adonai, eloheinu ruach ha’olam, asher kidshanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al sfirat ha-omer.
Blessed are You, Adonai our God, breath of life, who makes us holy with mitzvot and gives us this opportunity to count the Omer.
Today is the third day of the Omer!
